This collection contains a six page letter written by an unidentified United States soldier private in the 20th corps, possibly named 'Ike', to Mr. Edward Phillip of Yaphank, New York. The letter was written on 16 August 1864 in a camp about two miles from Atlanta, Georgia, and contains a detailed description of the Battle of Peach Tree Creek. The letter mentions Captain White, Captain Stevens, the death of James Biling, and that 'Rush' and 'Clark' were taken prisoner. Also included is the envelope, postmarked in Nashville on 23 August 1864.
