Biography/Profile
Joan B. Williman did genealogical research on French families in Georgia and South Carolina. She was living in Charleston, South Carolina at the time she compiled these notes, and she corresponded with Walter C. Hartridge of Savannah, Georgia about her research. She wrote a manuscript on French émigrés and refugees who came to Charleston because of the French Revolution and insurrections in the West Indies. This manuscript is in the Walter C. Hartridge Collection, MS 1349, at the Georgia Historical Society.
Scope and Content
This collection contains eight research notebooks belonging to Joan Williman. They contain handwritten research on French refugees in South Carolina and Georgia and appear to have been written around the 1930s and 1940s.
