Biography/Profile
Robert Saussy (Dec. 24, 1839-July 18, 1918) was born in Savannah, Georgia. He was a member of Company A of the Georgia Hussars in the Confederate Army and rose to the rank of Lieutenant. After the Civil War, he was active in the Central Railroad of Georgia and also the Ocean Steamship Company with offices in New York. His farm was located at 'Bonabella.' He married Gertrude L. Keller on September 12, 1872.

This collection consists of a letter from Robert Saussy to J.R. Saussy, written on May 29, 1863 from Camp Martin. The letter concerns army camp life during the Civil War.
