Joseph P. White (ca. 1847-1914), born in New York, was a gun and locksmith in Savannah, Georgia. He was also the inspector of Weights and measures for Chatham County. He may be the J.P. White listed as 2nd Lieutenant and Acting Adjutant, 1862, and as 2nd Lieut. In Company D of the 1st Georgia Volunteer Regiment, 1863, on the Confederate States Army rosters.
