This collection consists of a scrapbook compiled by Mildred Maxwell Crow Lattimore and four folders of historical information on Fort Pulaski compiled by Ralston B. Lattimore. The scrapbook was kept from January 1, 1944 through March 19, 1946, which were the dates Mr. Lattimore was off to serve in the United States Air Force in World War II. The scrapbook reveals the life of a military wife during World War II, much like a diary. It contains newspaper clippings related to World War II events from its beginning to its end; copies of 'Newsweek,' 'Time Magazine,' and 'Life;' several personal letters of various topics; several photographs, many of which are of Mrs. Lattimore's mother which were included in the scrapbook at the time of her mother's passing; a couple of issues of 'Nippon Times,' a Tokyo newspaper; ration books and articles on wartime rations; updates on Mr. Lattimore's wartime experiences and locations; several uniform patches and pins from Mr. Lattimore's uniform; memorabilia of items sent from Mr. Lattimore to Mrs. Lattimore, such as greeting cards, sticker off of a box to a gown he sent her from San Francisco, the bow off flowers he sent her; items related to U.S. Army Air Forces, particularly memorabilia on the 326th 'Sky Wolf' Squadron to which Mr. Lattimore belonged; paper and coin forms of currency from Philippines and Hawaii; items recognizing Mr. Lattimore's military promotions; railroad tickets/passes of military-related trips made by Mr. and Mrs. Lattimore; postcards; Christmas cards; condolence letters to Mrs. Lattimore regarding the passing of her mother; best wishes cards for Mrs. Lattimore from co-workers at the sugar refinery when she left to join Mr. Lattimore in New Orleans.
There are also four folders in this collection which contain historical research on various aspects of Fort Pulaski which were compiled by Mr. Lattimore and one of his coworkers at the fort.
