Chekilli was the principal chief of the Creek Confederacy during the time of the settlement of colonial Georgia. He accompanied Tomochichi on his visit to England in 1733. In 1735, Chekilli headed a delegation of Creek Indians at a council with the English, held in Savannah, Georgia. At the meeting, he recited the national legend of the Creeks.
