This collection consists of negative photocopies of General Howe's letters from Papers of the Continental Congress: Letters in the Library of Congress, No. 158, p. 189-192 and No. 160, p. 418-507, passim. The letters are to John Houstoun, Governor of Georgia; Col. Samuel Elbert, Gen. Benjamin Lincoln and Henry Laurens, written from Savannah, Camp on Great Satilla, 'Camp on the road 4 miles from Zubly's Ferry,' in Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina. Included is one letter of John White to General Howe, November 21, 1778. All deal with the military situation. The letter of December 30, 1778, describes the capture of Savannah by the British. There is also a typed copy of this last letter.
